Uh-Oh

I found these beasts at Make It and Love it.  She got them from Picky Palate.  Which, is the most amazing food blog I've seen lately.  It has lots of pictures, I like pictures.  Anyway, I haven't tried these yet, but I bet they are going to be responsible for me not fitting into any of my clothes soon!
-*And Natalie, she made hers totally gluten free.

D.C. Trip!

We had so much fun with Danalie in D.C.!  Nat was a GREAT tour guide, and I feel like we got to see lots of stuff in a short amount of time.  Here are some of the pictures we got.  I'm eventually going to post them on my family blog with explanations, so if you're dying to know what a particular picture is, well you'll just have to wait......I know, so agonizing.  Anyway, we had a blast, and everyone should come visit!

Amazing

So I'm with Natalie on everyone being slackers!  I got sick of looking at only my stuff on here, and why did everyone have to stop posting when I put a picture of my rear end up?  I hated checking the blog because it was the first thing I would see.........as I'm typing this, I'm realizing that's maybe why you all stopped coming here too.  SAD.  Anyway, I found this blog that gives step by step instructions to make REALLY cute kids clothes, and thought I should share.  This LINK is to the cutest dress I may someday dare to try to make for Abbie.  Click on the link for her tutorials, there is tons of really cute stuff.

Flag Cake + Slackers!

You guys are slackin' off! I have not been able to successfully stalk what you guys have been up to because no one is posting!

So I invested way too much time in making this cake- but it was really fun! Did not turn out as amazing as I hoped but when it comes down to it, who cares? I 100% copied the idea from one of the many blogs I frequently stalk for food ideas, make it and love it. You can use that link to see the flag cake how-to.

OF COURSE... I messed up and the blue part of the cake didn't turn out as well. I poured the white batter in before I remembered to add the blue coloring. Again, oh well.

I colored coconut shavings blue and threw them on the outside over a very yummy frosting! Seriously, if you want a basic vanilla frosting that is pretty amazingly sweet, try it.

Yummy Vanilla Frosting:

- 5 T Flour
- 1 Cup Milk
- 1 tsp Vanilla (I used about double)
- 1 Cup Butter (I used a little more than half that)
- 1 cup granulated sugar (not powdered)

In a small saucepan, whisk flour into milk and heat, stirring constantly, until it thickens. You want it to be very thick, thicker than cake mix, more like a brownie mix. Remove from heat and let it cool to room temperature. It must be completely cool before you use it in the next step. Stir in vanilla.
While the mixture is cooling, cream the butter and sugar together until light and fluffy. You don’t want any sugar graininess left. Then add the completely cooled milk/flour/vanilla mixture and beat the living daylights out of it. If it looks separated, you haven’t beaten it enough! Beat it until it all combines and resembles whipped cream.
